It's no secret that I love camping. Always have. As kids, we spent long summers travelling around Europe on these epic road trip adventures, going from campsite to campsite, rain or shine. I remember wet and soggy trips to the Czech Republic and scorching hot heatwave trips to south Spain, but I know they’re what instilled my love for travel, and for adventuring, and for that, I’ll always look back on them with the biggest smile.

I still love a tent trip — they’re part of the reason I love a festival so — and we spent this recent August Bank Holiday up in the Lake District for a proper family get-together with my folks. We were blessed with the most unpredictable British weather: searingly hot sunshine on the Saturday and non-stop rain for the rest of the long weekend, but nevertheless we had the most fun. My fam are all scattered around the country so it’s super rare we’re all together in one place so we made the very most of it, embracing all the weathers that came our way. We cooked fry-ups and fried rice for brekkie, swam in Lake Coniston, walked sunny hills in shorts and t-shirts, and sunk plentiful wine around the campfire with a BBQ. The next day we hiked 8 miles in the non-stop rain, dried out in the pub over pies and pints, played cards with our feet on the radiators, huddled together in one tent to keep dry, and cooked one-pot pasta whilst listening to the relentless rain. Soggy, sunny, it was just the best.
