A chaotic, compact city that sits in the shadow of the mighty Taj Mahal, Agra is all busy, dusty streets teeming with tuk-tuks, tacky marble souvenirs for the mantlepiece, and charming, smiley locals in colourful traditional dress. Despite its somewhat run-down aesthetic, it has great places to eat well on the cheap, comfortable home stays to lay your head, and no shortage of unassuming rooftop bars where you can knock back a cold Kingfisher and lap up the views of the magical mausoleum.
