postcards from Jaipur
The jewel in the crown of Rajasthan, Jaipur was everything I hoped it would be: chaotic, colourful, a culture shock. Within the pink walls of the Old City, you'll find busy streets teeming with traffic and endless bazaars selling everything from handmade jewellery to block-printed textiles, beautiful local crafts, and colourful mountains of spices. Pans of chai bubble on the roadside and freshly cooked samosas fill whole streets with the mouthwatering smells. The sweet scent of incense on the nose throughout the Old City kindly distracts from the relentless horns of the rickshaws and cars, who share the roads and roundabouts with donkeys and camels and the occasional Indian elephant. In the midst of all that, you've got grand buildings with the most magical, ornate details you'll want to stare at all day. Here are my postcards from Jaipur...
