Sleep Here: Boutique Glamping Somerset

Kip Hideaways is always the first place I look for cosy cabins and country hideaways, and it delivered the goods when we were looking for somewhere to stay while exploring East Devon and Dorset. Boutique Glamping Somerset is just 15-minutes from Lyme Regis, and though technically in Somerset, it’s perfectly placed for exploring some of Devon and Dorset’s coastal highlights like Lyme Regis, Beer and Seaton, where you can also do some great walks and tick off some miles on the coast path.

Depending on your budget and preferences, there are a few different types of stays here at the Boutique Glamping Somerset site, including a couple of yurts, a cabin complete with hot tub, and a fairytale-ish treehouse that twinkles against the woods. Whichever you choose,  you’ll hear owls tooting into the night and impressively starry skies on a clear day.

We stayed in the cabin, which is generously sized for two and with more frills than most boutique hotels, including the aforementioned hot tub and another giant tub inside. There’s an up-and-downstairs: a cosy, serene bedroom with en-suite toilet upstairs, and a kitchen, lounge and modern bathroom downstairs. In bad weather, you’ll want to cosy up on the sofa with a glass of wine by the log burner. In good, you’ll want to throw the doors open, let the sun soak through and stay up late toasting marshmallows in the garden. You’re pretty close to your neighbours, but there are hedges in between, and you do have plenty of privacy inside the cabin.

Days are for exploring. Hinton Saint George is in walking distance, signposted via the woods, and there you’ll find Lord Poulett Arms, the most quintessential of country pubs — thatched roof included — and somewhere you’ll definitely worth sinking a few drinks. A drive away, I’d also highly recommend a circular walk around the Dartington Estate, where there’s a pub stop and a wild swimming  opp too.

Back at the cabin, spend evenings outdoors, BBQing with a glass of wine, while the hot tub fires up. Soak under the stars and toast marshmallows on the fire. It’s a good place to take life slow.
