The main reason I wanted to go to Ibiza was for its beaches. Rugged coastlines and clear, glistening seas are what I travel for (even better when I have to hike down to find them) and Ibiza DELIVERS. We spent 4 days there, didn't party once, and spent the whole time hopping from beach to beach in our hire car, stopping for lunch at seafood shacks and beach-side restaurants. Tip-to-tip, you can drive the whole island in 50 minutes, so nothing's off limits and you can squeeze a ~lot~ of coastline appreciation into a quick trip. There are TONNES of great beaches in Ibiza, you'll never manage to do them all, but here are some  absolute beauties I'd definitely recommend starting with...

cala saladeta

Hands down, my favourite beach in Ibiza. Cross Cala Salada and clamber over the rocks to reach Cala Saladeta, a quiet and secluded sandy cove on the north coast of the Ibiza with the most beautiful azure waters. A seriously beautiful spot, it’s great for swimming, relaxing, picnics…and there’s even a cocktail cart dishing up freshly made mojitos…

cala d’en serra

If you’re looking for a real swimming spot, Cala d’en Serra is your best bet. A seriously serene spot up on the north east point of Ibiza, park up the car and take the picturesque 10-minute walk downhill ‘til you reach the pretty pebbled shores. Perfectly still, clear waters, free loungers and sunshine — you can easily spend a long afternoon here.

benirrás

Sunday nights at Benirrás is definitely an Ibiza experience. Join the crowds who gather here each week to watch the locals see down the sun with their traditional rhythmic drumming. Get some beers, grab some pizzas from the restaurant for the beach, and join the fun. The sunset is beautiful and it’s a real vibe.

talamanca

In walking distance of Ibiza Town, Talamanca is a pretty beach on a big curve with sandy shores and plentiful restaurants lining one side. Follow the decking path round, all the way to the end, and keep going ’til you pass Sa Punta restaurant and reach the little, very discrete fish shack at the end. It’s cash only, no menu, and whatever they catch that day. Absolutely delicious — do not miss it.

cala d'hort

Join the locals who flock to Cala d’Hort on the west coast of the island come evening to watch the sun set over the mystical Es Verde. Rumour has it, you can cast a wish here and it always comes true… There’s also plenty of sandy shore to lay a towel and bathe, clear seas for a dip, and a couple of restaurants to hit up for a beer or a spot of lunch.

sa caleta

Literally 8 minutes drive from the airport, Sa Caleta is a great first or last port of call on your trip. A sun kissed cove on the south west of Ibiza, it’s a beautiful sheltered swimming spot with pebbled shores, clear waters, and dramatic cliffs keeping off the wind. Restaurante Sa Caleta is a popular local restaurant at the top of the beach, which is kind of pricey but definitely delicious…
