Checking In: Pure House, Ibiza

When people talk about Ibiza, there’s always two sides to it. There’s the hedonistic ‘partied at Pacha ’til 7am’ story then there’s the bohemian  ‘bathed in the ocean, ate organic, did yoga on the sun terrace every morning, in bed by 10pm’ story, the latter of which is Pure House Ibiza in a nutshell. It’s calm, it’s off-the-beaten path, it’s only 4 rooms big, and it’s ever so relaxing.We spent two nights at Pure House (after two nights at Sir Joan) and absolutely loved it. Escapism at best, the white-washed walls, macrame details, and serene, luscious gardens have instant calming effects, and with the 4 bedrooms spread across the finca, separated by shady terraces and plant-filled patios, you’ve got plenty of privacy and space to yourselves — plus the gorgeous sun-soaked pool area that’s perfect for blissful lazy lounging should you want a break from the exploring…Our simple boho room was all beige and ivory tones, with a comfy king-size bed with a stunning sand-hued macrame headboard, an open-plan bathroom with a rainfall shower and Hierbas de Ibiza products, a minibar, and an open wardrobe. No TV and no sound system is a godsend sometimes, and a real luxury in this day and age where you’re forever feeling obliged to be glued to a screen. We drank wine in bed, we let morning light in through the shutters, we left the door wide open while we lapped up the sun on our terrace, and come morning, we woke ourselves up with a refreshing dip in the glistening seawater pool. After drying off in the sun on the comfy cushion-lined sunbeds, there’s an organic breakfast served on the communal terrace, with breads and jams, omelettes and coffee.From its off-the-beaten track location (yet only 15 minutes drive from the airport and 10 minutes to Old Town), to its bohemian aesthetics and pared-back luxury, I loved everything about Pure House and would love to go back.PURE HOUSE, RATES FROM £244 VIA SMITH HOTELS
